Yoga & La Corsa Week – May

In May 2018 we’re launching a brand new tour, offering the unique combination of a LA CORSA cycling holiday, with the added health and relaxation benefits of expert yoga instruction. Based on our flagship Tuscany tour, but with a twist… You start and end each day with a yoga session, led by Lulu Lemon ambassador Angie Lake. This 7-night holiday will give you the opportunity to take things at your own pace, and your recovery will be supported by a winning combination of massage and yoga. And of course you’ll enjoy all the hospitality that LA CORSA is famous for.

Tuscany, Italy

27 May – 3 June 2018

£1950 double £2100 single

This holiday is based on our flagship tour of Tuscany, which has been years in the making. Tuscany is one of the best places to ride a bike in the world. That’s why it’s the region where many pro cyclists live and train. It has everything going for it – from short, sharp climbs, to long ascents, and from fast descents, to the technical Strade Bianche, Chianti has it all. What’s more, Chianti offers some of the best food and wine in the world. All of this, combined with excellent service from our dedicated team, creates the LA CORSA Chianti experience.

Whether you’re looking to light up the climbs or take in the sights and smells at a more moderate tempo, we’ll ride the same beautiful roads used in races like L’Eroica and the World Championships. Along the way, we’ll show you all the little things that make Tuscany the base of choice for so many of the peloton’s top professionals.

You’ll be staying in a spacious, self-contained apartment in Borgo Sicelle, an authentic Tuscan villa in a tiny hamlet in the heart of Chianti. The villa is comprised of self-contained apartments with kitchenettes and en suite bathrooms for each guest. Set around a relaxing pool, each suite offers stunning vistas over the entire valley.

All meals are included in the price of the tour. You’ll be savouring incredible local wines while dining in excellent trattoria, handpicked by Tour Director Andy. LA CORSA guarantee incredible food and wine and the warmest local hospitality.

Day by day break down

    Saturday, 27th May 2018

    Distance: 40.6km     Elevation: 799m

Today’s ride is very much an introduction to the roads of Chianti and a chance to get you acquainted with your new De Rosa Idol. We will leave the villa and coast down a 2km descent before a short climb up towards the beautiful town of Panzano. Another quick descent from Panzano will start us on a 10km drag of 2% which will take us to Radda in Chianti, the starting point of the 2016 Giro D’Italia ITT. From here we follow the Giro TT around 20km back to the villa with the first 8km being a mange e beve (up and down) before a 10km descent to the beautiful town of San Donato in Poggio where we turn down towards the villa. This will be a little taste of what cycling with La Corsa in Chianti has to offer.

  2.  LA PANCA

    Sunday, 28th May 2018

    Distance: 85km     Elevation: 1,875m

With the introduction to Chianti out the way and a new best friend in your De Rosa Idol we set off to fry bigger fish. The Route Strava has become a huge thing for both amateur and professional cyclists all over the world and today we give you a chance to take on one of Strava’s most legendary segments, L’ora Del Chianti (the Chianti hour). We do intend to stop for a coffee in Greve in Chianti, which is around halfway, making it very hard to break any records. With 5 taxing climbs in 56km many people will choose to crawl back to the villa, but for those not satisfied, we have an extending loop which takes in another 2 killer climbs and pushes it out to 90km.

    Monday, 29th May 2018

    Distance: 90km     Elevation: 1,493m

As with most of the rides in this part of the world we are going to climb a lot of vertical meters, although this ride south, in the direction of Siena is as tame as it gets. Several gradual climbs will take us down towards one of the most beautiful areas of Chianti and will give many of you the first taste of the all famous Strade Bianche (gravel or white roads). A coffee stop in Castelnuovo Berardenga and then we loop back round in the direction of the villa. 90km in Chianti never felt so pleasant.

    Tuesday, 30th May 2018

    Distance: 51km     Elevation: 1,440m

The La Corsa Queens Stage is never going to be an easy day in the saddle. The first climb to Panzano will act as a leg warmer and then a fast 6km descent into Greve will take us to the bottom of a testing 5km climb called Sugame. Climb number three of the day is Lucolena which is one of the highest points in Chianti at 757 metres above sea level. This grueling 7km ascent is also one of the longest climbs that Chianti will throw at us and will have everyone craving for some well deserved downhill. For the scalatori (climbers) amongst us who are searching for more pain a 48km additional loop can be added in. Short loop is 56km and long loop extension is 90km.

    Wednesday, 31st May 2018

    Distance: 92km     Elevation: 1,940m

We will start with a climb up towards San Donato in Poggio and then descend down the Sambuca hill which leads us towards San Casciano in Val di Pesa Firenze and back. We don’t stop at the Cantinetta del Nonno Ristorante, we continue on in the direction of Firenze. We will then pass the little village of Chiesanuova before descending down into the city with stunning switchbacks to test even the best bike handlers. A little traffic will be endured to get us to the iconic photo-stop above Firenze called Piazzale Michelangelo. The way back to the villa is definitely the scenic way but maybe not the most pleasant. After a short descent its 10km of climbing towards the town of Imprunetta where we will stop in the square for a coffee. From Imprunetta it will be decision time. Hilly or flatish will be the choices. We will pass by Greve in Chianti and Panzano. This is always going to be a tough day but the views over Firenze and the sense of achievement will keep the pedals turning.

    Thursday, 1st June 2018

    Distance: 51km     Elevation: 790m

A classic 50km Florentine loop through the Tignanello vineyards of the famous Antinori family. The start of this ride is the second half of the Giro D’Italia Time trial with a steep uphill to Panzano quickly followed by a super-fast descent into Greve in Chianti. A further 10km in the direction of Firenze before turning off the main roads onto the quiet, narrow roads that climb up past Luiano and Montefiridolfi. One last climb of the day will take us up the Sambuca before we descend back to the villa. For those who are still feeling strong an additional loop up to Castellina in Chianti will add an extra 30km and 500m altitude to your day.

    Friday, 2nd June 2018

    Distance: 82km     Elevation: 1,648m

Starting off with the beautiful descent from the villa down past la piazza to the bridge where we turn left and climb towards Panzano. From Panzano we have the false flat all the way up to Radda in Chianti where the climb continues for another 1km before descending down for 15km leaving us a 4km gentle climb to Il Castello di Brolio. From Brolio a short climb up to Monti and then we loop back round towards Gaiole in Chianti which is the home of the famous Eroica. After Gaiole a 6km climb with some steep gradients awaits us in Badia di Coltibuono. We then loop back to Radda where we retrace our steps with a long gradual downhill/flat section, short descent and then a short climb back to the villa.
